The Rhode Island Geography Education Alliance, R.I.'s affiliate of the National Geographic Society's Geographic Alliance network invites teachers of all subjects and all grade levels to the RIGEA Fall Geography Dinner at the John Nicholas Brown Center in Providence on November 3 from 4:45 to 8 p.m.

Guests will preview Geography Awareness Week materials, receive free interdisciplinary resources for teaching The Americas, learning about the history of mapping the Americas from John Carter Brown Library director Edward L. Widmer and enjoy dinner at no charge. And, you earn three contact hours!

Space is limited. To make a reservation, email rigea@ric.edu. Put GA Dinner in the subject line of your email and include the following info: name, school district, school, subject, grade level.

Meanwhile, you and your students are invited to submit recipes from any country in North, South or Central America to RIGEA for their Mapping the Americas Recipe Contest. Entries must be received by November 1. Winning submissions will receive a $25 Borders gift certificate. Include your name, email, and phone number, a photograph of the prepared recipe, the country of origin, source of the recipe and the actual recipe. If it is a family favorite, share how it became so.
